Contact The Elderly

This national charity is dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation amongst older people living in the UK. Their aim is to empower older people to make new social connections and break the cycle of isolation. Their free social gatherings tend to take place at weekends and moreover on Sundays as this is when older people have told them tends to be the loneliest day of the week. You must be over 75 and live alone to attend. Currently their groups run in Exeter, Exmouth, Ivybridge, Tiverton, Torquay and Plymouth. Check their website for events near you. 0800 716543.

The Not Forgotten Association

This association provides recreation, leisure, and entertainment to serving personnel and veterans of any age. They support any serving man or woman who is wounded, injured or sick and any veteran with a disability, illness or infirmity who has served with The Royal Navy, The Royal Marines, The British Army, The Royal Airforce, and The Merchant Navy. Sharing Care In Ipplepen

This support service is provided by volunteers for patients registered with Ipplepen Health Centre. It offers a befriending service for people who are or are at risk of becoming isolated. It also offers sitting or carer relief, light shopping, dleivery of non-urgent medicine dispensed by the health centre. Referral forms available from the surgery. 01803 814089
