How can Time For You support me?
Time For You is a sitting service designed to give you, the carer, a worry-free break from your caring role.
Devon Carers are working with providers from the voluntary sector, the third sector and community partners to deliver a low-cost sitting service, by providing volunteers to spend time with your loved one whilst you take time out.
The role of the volunteer is to provide companionship for an agreed number of sitting hours but they are not able to provide personal care.
Volunteers will be matched with your loved one, making sure they find just the right person to spend time with them.
All volunteers are DBS checked and trained for this role.
The benefits of this service
- You have a chance to get out to attend appointments, social clubs or to just sit and have a coffee with friends.
- The person you are caring for gets the chance to meet new people and spend time chatting with someone different.
How can I receive the service?
- You can go direct to one of the providers shown in the list below and make your own arrangements. No formal assessment is needed.
- The service could be a regular arrangement of between a couple of hours a week, or something more ad hoc. You will pay the provider just £5 per hour for each hour of sitting provided.
